Obviously the location is great. I'd stay here again just for the convenience of walking from the plane to the room. The hotel *is* a bit dated, but it's certainly OK, and I'll give them kudos for a nice recliner in the room, the perky water pressure and fact that the digital room key works in the room and in the elevator. (I know some Marriotts where it works for the room door that you can't get to because you need a physical key for the elevator, kinda funny.) I'll mark them down for not allowing VPNs. It's nowhere stated (but you'll see it in some reviews) that if you have a VPN, you can "connect" to internet, it just won't load. Hilton (because it's a Hilton problem I think): some of us need a VPN for work and financial things. Disallowing a VPN is such a weird inexplicable flip-off to the guest. It's hard to see how it benefits the hotel or the ISP. Let's call hotels out when they do it.

I stayed here after a flight cancellation during a business trip. The airline gave a voucher for the room but as a gold member I wish I had stayed somewhere else. The staff is fantastic but the rooms are in bad need of renovations. Also connecting to the Wi-Fi is nearly impossible. Other than the convenience of being attached to the airport I would not recommend this Hilton.

I'd been to this hotel with my granddaughters but this time my son and daughter-in-law and their youngest, who's almost 5, were with us. The girls won't stay anywhere else- they love the view of the airport across the street. We got adjoining rooms, which really worked out well for our group. I was also happy to see that daily housekeeping is back. But now the drawbacks: the pool was closed, which we did not realize till we checked in. The kids were especially disappointed. It was not noted in the e-mail sent the week before although if you drilled down to the Hotel Info link the pool was not listed as an amenity. They'd set up a decent workout room in a conference room which I used the first day. I went to use it the next day and there were workers removing all the equipment! No idea why. We were not given breakfast coupons at check-in. The lady at the front desk at breakfast took care of it quickly but it shouldn't have happened that way. One of our rooms was 80 degrees, according to the thermostat. The controls did nothing. I called the front desk and they said they'd send up an engineer. None appeared. The next morning I told the person at the front desk. They'd send someone up, she said. We left for the day and came back to- an 80-degree room. When I checked out I again told the clerk that the issue was never fixed and asked for a credit. She offered me a $50 reduction or 10,000 Hilton points. I chose the $50. She said that the system was set to heat or A/C at some central location and that when it was set to heat some rooms got too warm. Yeah, we noticed. We did open the windows a crack the second night, which helped. I'd gotten a room rate that included breakfast but it was more restrictive than expected. There was a tiny square up at the top of the menu for the included breakfast- eggs any style, a breakfast meat, fruit, pastries and toast. It covered a max of 2 people per room so two weren't covered. Note that portions are VERY generous. Food at breakfast and the dinner we had in the pub were very good but the prices are expense-account level, even with the credits I got due to Hilton status. NOT family-friendly. The people in the restaurants were uniformly very nice and wonderful with the kids, which we'd noticed on previous visits. I still feel like this hotel still has only one major advantage: location.

This Hilton actually surprised me... I'm from Chicago originally and think O'Hare while convenient is run down and ugly and I guess I expected the hotel to be similar. It's not. It's clean, nice, had a restaurant, bar, the room was emaculate!! I'm not saying this is a five star hotel but with the right expectations of an airport hotel, it's better than most. The only reason I didn't give it a five star is because the phone line during open business hours to order from service just rang and rang, on two attempts to call, no answer. So if you need food, get it yourself, don't rely on room service.

The room itself was fine, although a little dated. The bed was super comfortable. I checked in after my flight had been canceled twice and having had spent over 24 hours at the airport, tired and very weary trying to get to MI after the death of my niece. They gave out menus to those checking in, which was great because I was starving. No where on the menu did they list a phone number or website to place an order. Since I was brain dead, I googled "room service at Hilton O'Hare" and got to a site where you could order online, which I did for $51.50. I got an emailed receipt saying the order would arrive in 40 minutes. After an hour, I called the number on the emailed receipt and was transferred to "Herb and Kitchen" and got someone's vm, left a message saying it's been over an hour and I haven't received my order. No call back, never received the order, but transaction went through on my debit card. The next morning I called the number again, was transferred to Herb & Kitchen, and no answer. This is an entity separate from Hilton, so I'm basically just out over $50 and went to bed hungry.
